One of the most challenging and difficult responsibilities a pastor has is to help people die well. How does a person prepare to meet their God when it is the very first time they are doing what is most important in life? How do family members of a dying loved one, face their own overwhelming grief while encouraging and comforting the one who is leaving them?
Up until now, I have had little help as a pastor of thousands of precious people. Glenn Pearson's book is a gift to us all. In a simple, creative way, Prepare To Meet Your God leads the person dying, their family and their pastor or caregiver through a simple set of devotional readings that open our minds and hearts to heaven's doors.
Glenn's personal writing style leads the reader on a clear path to truth and response; a path with consistent stories and insights which serve as sign posts, lest the reader lose his/her way and rest points for even the dying to catch their breath on what can seem an impossibly wearying journey into the unknown. The prayers found at the end of each segment provide helpful, compassionate words to pray when thoughts are distorted by pain and the effects of medication. I found them to be so full of life, hope and the love of God.
Whether read by those in need of ministry or those who minister to the dying or even heard by means of the audio book format, Prepare To Meet Your God will prove to be an invaluable resource and an oasis of comfort and good news to all who face life's most difficult but glorious transition. |

I am serving my 7th year as a Hospice Chaplain. Through these years, I have searched endlessly for practical Christian resources related to dying. Glenn's book, Prepare To Meet Your God, is a treasure. He tenderly walks through the final phases of life here providing clear teaching, invitation and guidance. His inclusion of logistics around tidying up affairs and planning for services will be helpful to those facing death. I love his gentle approach for loved ones to be included in this process. I look forward to the publication as a resource in hospice ministry. This book will also be valuable to me in my Christian life with family and friends.

Here's a book that “breaks the sound barrier” on how to talk with the terminally ill.
Glenn's book, Prepare To Meet Your God opens up a sensitive and thoughtful consideration of truths that concern a person approaching the end of life. It's the kind of book I would want for a terminally ill friend or family member, either for their own reading or to read it aloud to them or listen to it on CD. |

As a longtime friend and colleague of Glenn Pearson, I strongly encouraged him to write this book because of his unique pastoral gifting and his rich experience in ministering to the sick and dying with divine wisdom and compassion.
Young and old, sick and well, believer and unbeliever can all benefit from reading this much-needed volume. Since none of us knows when our date with death will occur, it behooves us all to be ready at any time.
Pastors would be wise to consider giving this book to parishioners who are senior citizens. Sometimes it is assumed that longtime church members are ready to die, when in fact they are not. When asked if they are prepared to die, they may say, “I hope so”, rather than “I know so“. This book will gently but firmly expose a false or weak faith and help establish a true saving faith. My prayer is that all who read this book will be arrested by
the Holy Spirit. |
I have nothing but praise for Glenn Pearson's work. Since I am approaching my 80's, it was very meaningful to me. I was especially impressed by the prayer and meditation format. This work very gently introduces Jesus to those who might not have that intimate love relationship with Him. This is a unique book not yet found among others. It speaks of death and dying and introduces answers to both the dying and their caregivers. It is badly needed for the body of Christ as well as for those who have not yet been embraced by the love of Jesus. |

Glenn Pearson's Prepare to Meet Your God is an insightful, articulate and very welcome book, a challenge for Christians to let the Bible's light shine into the confusion and fear that so often arises with aging and severe illness. The book is especially valuable for caregivers, for pastoral servants and for those who are personally facing the imminence of their mortality. And yet, given how modern culture has distorted the concepts of compassion, suffering and the sanctity of human life, Glenn's counsel is relevant for all believers – a timely corrective from one whose experience in pastoral and missionary service for our Lord is rich and deep.
The issues covered in Prepare to Meet Your God are issues I face as a pro-life activist, a caregiver to my mother, a teacher, a pastoral care volunteer in hospitals and nursing homes...and, for that matter, simply as a Christian who needs God's guidance and strength to successfully conquer the issues raised by suffering and change. Knowing Glenn Pearson for nearly two decades and seeing how his visionary, wise apostolate has made a grand difference in so many lives, I fully expected the book to be of great help to me. I was not disappointed.
I encourage all Christians interested in staying the course until God calls to learn from Glenn's wide experience and his keen knowledge of the Scriptures by reading Prepare to Meet Your God. |
| Pastoral care of the dying is a vital area for any in ministry to consider. Those involved in house churches may feel inexperienced and adrift when helping people who are dying. This book provides much needed help to make sure that those who dying are ready to meet the Lord and that they have the practical help they need to set their house in order. |

Our culture is in denial about death. We worship youth, health and longevity, and pretend that we'll never pass from this life. But the author of Hebrews wrote, "It is appointed unto man once to die." This is reality, and we deny it to our peril.
Glenn Pearson has created a wonderful resource for those facing passage from this life to the next. "Prepare to meet your God" uses scripture to help us meditate on the reality of death, and to turn our attention to God's wonderful promises. In times of fear, there is no greater comfort than the Word of God, and this book offers real comfort to those who need it the most. |
